Not only should you get Illinois auto insurance, but the minimum prescribed liability coverage should be purchased, failing which you are likely to be off the road from traveling in case of law enforcement charges. However, any licensed insurance company selling you the insurance would not sell you the policy that is low priced and against state restrictions.
In some cases if you happen to trade the policy from a fake agent or a fake company they might just give you what you want. It might not really be any kind of insurances and they might fly away with your money, letting you believe that you have insurance when you might have purchased papers that are really Illinois not auto insurance or any kind of polices but mere papers.
Be sure of the authenticity of the insurance company whose policy you are going to purchase and also about the authenticity of the agent who is selling you the Illinois auto insurance policy!
